Privacy Policy

This explains what we collect, why we collect it, and who can see it. We've kept it in plain language on purpose.
Account information
Your name, email address and sign-in details, so you can have an account and we can reach you about it.
Profile information
Company or personal name, logo, pitch, stage, website, LinkedIn and any public description. This is the part of your profile other Circuit users can see.
Intake information
Your role, what brings you here, your skills, interests, needs and what you're looking for. This is private. We use it to understand what kinds of connections might be useful to you. It is not displayed publicly unless you choose to share it.
Event information
The events you've joined, the Conference Codes you used, the startups you added to your board, your favorites, ratings and private notes.
Analytics
Aggregate activity, used to understand participation and engagement — how many people joined, how active they were, what kinds of things people are looking for.
What event organizers receive
Organizers of an event you join can see:
- Aggregate participation and engagement for their own event — yes
- Your individual private matchmaking answers — no
- Your private notes — no
- Your personal contact details — only if you choose to reveal them or connect
An organizer never receives data about events they don't manage.
Storage and security
Your data is stored in our managed cloud database with access rules that restrict each row to the people entitled to see it. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so we don't claim it is.
Retention
We keep your profile and event history while your account is open, because that history is what makes past connections useful later. When you delete your account we remove your profile, intake answers, notes, favorites and board.
Your choices
You can view and edit your profile, change your privacy and matchmaking permissions, leave an event, or delete your account from Settings. To ask for a copy or a correction, email hello@thecircuit.community.
Third-party services
We use a cloud hosting and database provider to run The Circuit and to send account emails. They process data on our behalf and don't use it for their own purposes.
Cookies
We store a small amount of information in your browser to keep you signed in and to remember your appearance preference. We don't use advertising trackers.
